Track World Cup Series in Full Swing!

This weekend the Track Cycling World Cup is being held in Glasgow (8-10 November).  A top level field of athletes preparing for the Tokyo Olympics will ensure a high level of competition. Tickets are already sold out for what is guaranteed to be a spectacle of speed and ability.

Jean Spies is competing in the at the event. He will participate in both the sprint and kierin events.

Spies is current African Continental Champion and South Africa’s National Champion and is running his own campaign to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics next year. He has traveled to multiple countries to earn the required points to qualify for the high ranked Olympic events. This has included the World Cup Series, the World Championships and leading ultimately to the Olympic games.

Spies is self-funded and reliant on donations. Living in barns and caravans has been part of this journey just to make sure he is able to train and race at a world class level.

Spies will compete on the 9th November in the sprint and in the kierin on the 10th November. His current UCI world rankings are 34th and 26th respectively. ***
